The Kicker L7R 10″ Solo Baric subwoofer handles 500W RMS and and dual 2 ohm voice coils. The L7R is Kicker’s most affordable, full-size, square subwoofer and Kicker was the original, and continues to be the leader in square subs. The big advantage a square subwoofergives you over a round subwoofer is cone area. If you have a 10″ round subwoofer, the radius is 5″. Using the formula for the area of a circle, you get approximately 78.5 square inches. With a 10″ square subwoofer, the area is 100 square inches. So, a 10″ square subwoofer is bigger thana 10″ round subwoofer and will play lower and louder.

When you consider the power handling and the size of these Kicker L7R subwoofer, you see that you get bigger a bigger sub that can handle decent power. The dual 2 ohm voice coil on this subwoofer will allow you to run a single sub at 1 ohm, 2 subwoofers at 2 ohms, 3 subwoofers at 1.3 ohms, and 4 subwoofers at 1 ohm.

If you are only running a single subwoofer, we typically recommend the 4 Ohm DVC version. It will allow you to wire your amplifier to a 2 ohm load. Yes, you don’t get as much power as you do at 1 ohm, but your subwoofer should sound better, it is easier on the amplifier, and it should extend the life of yourstereo system.

For amplifiers, you can use the CX400.1 or KX400.1 to power a single subwoofer, but we recommend the CX800.1 or KX800.1 because we would rather have more power and keep the gain down versus having the gain maxed out on the smaller amps. The same thing is true if you are running a 2 of these subwoofers. We recommend the CX1200.1 or the KX1200.1, but you cansave some money and the woofers will still hit hard and sound great with the CX800.1 or the KX800.1. If you are running 3 subs, go with the KX1600.1 or the CX1800.1. If you are running 4 subwoofers, go with the KX2400.1, but don’t turn the gain all the way up.
