Description
This JL Audio 12TW3 subwoofer package includes a single 12″ TW3-D4 subwoofer and the JL Audio RD500/1 amplifier. With this setup, the 12″ TW3 woofer will receive 500 watts of RMS power from the amplifier if wired in parallel. JL Audio recommends between 200-400 watts of RMS power. Since this amp will put out morethan the recommended RMS power, we advise that you not turn the gain up all the way. Doing so will likely blow the subwoofer and void the warranty from JL Audio.
JL Audio 12 Inch TW3 Subwoofer
The JL Audio TW3 woofer offer full size bass output in a thin, low profile frame. The TW3 uses JL’s patented concentric tube technology to move the motor close to the front of the frame, allowing for maximum excursion in a very shallow space. Many thin woofer out there sound like thin woofers. Not the JL Audio TW3.The output on these woofers rivals their full sized counterpart, the W3v3.
JL Audio RD500/1 500W Monoblock Amplifier
The RD series of amplifiers offer great output and affordability. The RD amps use many of the same technologies that are used in the XD series, but without some of the signal processing and thermal management that the XD has. Also, the RD is larger than the XD, but it also does have LED clipping indicators which allow you to perfectly set the gain.
Amp Wiring Kit + Speaker Wire Included
We include a 4 AWG amp wiring kit and 15 feet of 12 AWG speaker wire. The wire used in both the amp wiring kit and the speaker wire is 100% oxygen-free copper. If you are spending the money on JL Audio components, you don’t want to go cheap on the wiringand starve the amp. Using 100% OFC copper ensures that you get maximum output from both the amplifier and your subwoofer.
Wire the Two Voice Coils in Parallel to a 2 Ohm Load
Please see the wiring diagram below that shows parallel wiring to a 2 ohm load. The RD500/1 is supplying more than the recommended power at a 2 ohm load. Please be aware that you will have to ensure that the gains are not turned all the way up. If not, you will void the warranty and risk blowing the subwoofer.
