Buying Used Cars Online: Making The Process Easier

When you first start looking through used cars online to find the one you want to buy, one of the first things you will notice is your search can be a bit confusing at first. There is a lot to look through when you enter the world through the Internet, and a few simple tips will help you narrow your choices and make the whole process more streamlined.

First and foremost you want to take a look at how much you’ve got to spend and stick to that number as closely as possible. When you’ve got just enough money for a decent Chevrolet but wind up buying an expensive Bentley that you see advertised on a website, you’ve lost sight of how much you had to spend in the first place.

Used Cars Online Budget

When you want to see what your budget is and decide which used cars online will best suit you, you need to check with your local financial institution. Your local bank will be only too happy to let you know how much money they’re willing to lend.

When you got that out of the way it’s time to start looking at used cars specifically. Remember that there’s a lot to look at beyond just the kind of car you want. For example you should check all four tires and if you see that one side is more worn than the others, that usually means there is an alignment problem that needs fixing. It’s also important that you get all the documentation you need so that you could see all of the car’s history.

Safety is Another Big Feature

Safety is another big feature that has come to prominence in recent years. One of the ways that you can ensure any of the used cars online that you’re looking at is reasonably safe is to look for telltale markings that it has been in an accident before. As well you’ll want to make sure that it has airbags and other safety features like impact resistant door panels.

Looking through all the used cars for sale that the Internet provides can be overwhelming unless you narrow the search down and have some criteria ready to use before you start looking. Still that doesn’t mean the whole process has to be completely serious. With lots to choose from, looking through all of the used cars online that the Web provides can be a great experience.

  2. the problem with these newer non turbos is the fact they reduced? the power from the older ones lik 96 and older.

  3. Car salesman will always get you! I feel like anytime sometime tells you you can easily cancel a warranty or anything else it is always a hassle. Which dealership did you guys go to? It seems to always be a good idea to have a make/model and price in mind before going car shopping. They always seem to convince you to buy higher or to get the extra warranty. I like that you did do a car sale because I think many people can relate to this, and we all know the sterotype of the car salesman. Hopefully the next time you buy a car, you will keep this story in mind!

  4. Please pay no mind to the guy that said to get a manual transmission…. In the NYC area those are a real pain driving in traffic…. get an automatic transmission vehicle.. Just stick with the usual advice most people give. Have a mechanic look over any car that catches your fancy…. If you mean like $1000 price range cheap then dont even bother with a carfax.. Buy a car no one wants to steal — Really, No kidding! Forget the Civics, Camrys and especialy Corrolas.. etc…. Get a used american car with plain steel wheels and NO fancy stereo, no tinted windows, no stickers that say what type of cheesy performance products it has…. The New York Area isnt a zoo like it was in the early 70's but you should still get a boring looking car……. I have bought sold, given Chevy cavaliers to my kids and havent had any problems with them beyond regular maintainance and fender benders…….. Post a Wanted Note on the church bulletin board or at the local retirement community you need a car for your college kid…. I have bought a few cars that way and you dont get some car thats been pounded on by some obnoxious kid…. Ford Focuses, Cavaliers, Pontiac Sunbirds, Saturns or any 4 cylinder engine cars — I bought one of my kids a Neon from this church lady and over 4 years all he had to do was maintainance and a set of tires, brakes, and 2 struts…… I do suggest no matter what car he gets you GET A FULL SIZE SPARE TIRE AND and make sure the jack is working properly. Streets in the New York Area are poorly maintained. When I worked down there I wondered why I saw cars with oversize tires on them (No not like a monster truck) but probably 1 or 2 sizes larger than normal…. I got a clue it was becasue some streets are quite crappy… If the tires on whatever car you buy are old / weak looking or worn get a quality replacement set….. Good Luck!

  5. Used cars are bought "as is". The dealer is supposed to reveal any "defects" to you. About all you can do is go back to the dealer and ask that the problems be corrected, no charge, by him. If he won't, you can always report him to the BBB and/or your states office of consumer protection. If he doesn't co-operate, tell him you plan to report him and then do it.

  6. Anonymous,I think the rest of Larry's comment was that entrepreneurs have to convince others of their vision, and thus they're always explaining themselves. He wasn't implying that they didn't listen at all. He was just saying that one of the biggest things entrepreneurs do is communication. And seeing as how Larry went from being a parts boy at an autoshop to owning one of the largest car sale empires in the Rockies (not to mention the Utah Jazz and several other ventures), I think he qualifies as a succesful entrepreneur. ;-P~Jon
