Usefulness of an Engine Computer
When it comes to human inventions, cars are considered to be among the greatest. With this type of vehicle, traveling distant places with comfort is now possible. Getting tired by walking from one town to another is a thing of the past.
The vehicle is also great for saving time. Unlike running which can run about 25 to 37 kilometers per hour, cars are designed to run more than 80 kilometers per hour and even faster.
When you’re traveling to far off places, you don’t have to stop to make your car rest, which is among the most beneficial things about them. You just have to fill up your car’s fuel tank and you can travel for hours or even days.
However, just like some other inventions of men, cars are not made to last forever. Some parts of these cars will eventually get broken. Now, in order to avoid getting stuck in the middle of the road while you’re driving, it is important to have your car checked at least twice a year.
On the other hand, it can also become costly when you have your cars checked regularly. Luckily, engine computers, a device that helps drivers monitor the condition of their car, was also invented.
In order to make sure that the car is running at optimum capacity car engine computers use a variety of sensors such as air pressure sensor, engine temperature, throttle position, air temperature, etc.
Usually, cars being manufactured these days already have an engine computer and an engine control module installed in them. One function of an engine computer is to sense if something is wrong with the car.
An engine computer makes the “check engine” bulb light up in order to inform the driver. The best thing to do if you happen to receive this message is to go to an auto repair shop and have a mechanic check your car. The mechanic will know which part of car’s engine has a malfunction just by reading the diagnostic code from the engine computer.
Another function of an engine computer is to give information to the driver about his car’s performance. It keeps an eye on the amount of fuel left in the gas tank, the ignition timing and the spark plugs as well.
An engine computer and/or an engine control module can also manage fuel injectors and spark plugs in order to keep the engine running at its maximum capacity. It also adjusts parts of the car’s engine in order to lower emissions.
If you have ever had the check engine light come on in your car you have the engine computer to thank for that. The engine control module is really the brains of the car that can make the driver aware of trouble.

Oh.My.God.
I'm going to have to fly to Ireland and set every damn “service” and “doctor” on fire.
Please. “We're an island, you know…” And? Do you order car parts and the test results analysis by throwing a message in a bottle out in the sea? One of the biggest economies in the world is practically within spitting distance of you, Dublin. Last time I checked, England was on an island too — and if I can get English scones at my grocery store every damn week, Dublin should be able to get car parts in a day or two.
Oh wait. They make you wait to get necessities because the manufacturers drop barrels of parts and goods into the Irish Sea, and the Irish have to swim out and push the floating barrels back inland with their noses. Like harbor seals.
