I haven’t seen this arogant prick knocking such wonderfull cars like the Morris/Austin Marina. He plays to the UK audience . Britains auto industry? Not much to get excited about there. Face it Automobiles have come a long way since the ’70′s in what ever country your talikig about.
@Samimiamiv1 lol. i don’t think you have the fastest production car. you did, for a few weeks earlier this year, but the new improved veyron took that title back. Not sure about the fastest production sedan I imagine audi or bmw have that at the moment. and no, you didn’t invent the first car.
@DuallyDieselFord well lotus use toyota engines now, don’t they? they’ll probably last a lot longer than you expect.
@Timbaa87 While I agree with you, and I actually own a land yacht, (63′ New Yorker) Those V8s in the 70′s and 80′s were massive and produced as much power as a modern turbo 4 cyl or normally asperated 6 cyl. The Jag’s V8 and V12′s on the other hand were very powerful. Efficiency was not in mind. Thats why i think he thinks so lowly of them.
@v8guvnor Soft suspension is precisely the wrong suspension for smooth roads….this car would actually be better off in the UK.
u cant tell how big my vocabulary is from just a couple sentences
almost every car made in the 70′s was boxy.
Mild suspension simply is the way to go for american roads.
Besides it’s not a sports car, it’s luxury.
And since when does jeremy clarkson whine about fuel consumption?
When jaguar or aston martin put V12′s in their cars he thinks it’s awesome.
My ford has 194k on it. Lets see a lotus do that. Plus I love towncars
You americans can complain all you like but Jeremy is right. Americans cars are not well built at all, i mean c’mon your still using leaf springs wtf. why not use propper springs and shocks?. Yes the zr-1 is a high performance car, but its a car you cannot live with everyday without it falling to pieces! British cars are not the best either, the best are the japanese but a well looked after british car could easily last 20 years. American cars wouldn’t even last 10 years.
@Samimiamiv1 1 name.. Ultima GTR..Takes the better things from each country and what do you get? the fastest road legal fucker around.. apart from top speed.. but when do you need that shit anyway.. i mean the veyron isnt exactly setting fast lap times.. nor would the scc..i mean chevy v8′s are no shit str8 foward reliable powerful powerplants, you stop the bitching you yankies and poms love to do and work together.. and you make some amazing shit.. that isnt over hyped over priced shit
man fuk all of u snoty british bitches we have the fastest production car the fastest production sedan we invented the first car and the zr1 loses to only few lambos ann ferraries that cost six time as much and we have very fuel efficient cars so go eat a cup of tendeys with a teabag on the side
@AmusingYeti Not all American cars are horrible. How about the Viper? The Saleen S7? The Corvette ZR-1? Great performance cars all, and each of them American designed. Then there are the economy cars. The Chevrolet Chevette, the Dodge Colt, Neon, Omni, K car, the Ford Fiesta, Festiva, Aspire. Each and every one capable of at least 35 mpg. Dreadful, horrible cars, each and every one if you have a base model, but otherwise great for A-B travel.
America is far from perfect, but cut us a break.
Late 80s American cars were pieces of crap, there is no denying that. They are like the British Leyland of American cars. The US is known for our muscle cars. They defined a generation and in my opinion even made British Touring more enjoyable to watch. All countries have a period of poorly built cars. It’s a fact of life.
America has produced the best ever movies; the greatest music has come from America; the best and abundant range of 60′s and 70′s muscle cars are from America; America has the best and biggest roads in the world; the most advanced military in the world; the biggest travel destination for THE BRITISH; the list is endless; oh, the best dunkin donuts too. God Bless America – the biggest and best of everything.
@arthurgerber
The world is awash with collectors, enthusiasts and daily drivers oof all the late 60′s n’ 70′s Classic American Muscle Cars, Challengers, Chargers, Baracuda’s, Chevelles, Mustangs, to name a handful of these awesome sounding and looking V8 dreams. Yet the british cars of those periods have been buried long ago. The UK has a massive following of the HEMI – Mopar scene as the recent MOPAR nationals at your Santa Pod showed, as I was there – 1000′s of US Muscle took part
@AmusingYeti
dude, your comments are fair, but the clarkson followers smell his fart trail 10 miles away and go chasing it for their fix. clarkson is talking about a late 70′s family cruiser that are extremely comfortable on smooth American roads something the british don’t have apart from potholes, narrow roads, and aweful road surfaces. I know I’ve driven in the UK recently. The real Muscle cars of 70′s America are your Challengers, Chargers, Baracuda’s, Plymouth’s, Chevelle, etc… etc…
xD he has been in the best cars in the world. I wonder how he feels when he got in these cars xd
TopGear should seek out some of the British cars exported to the US during the 1970s and 1980s-if he can find any left. They were notoriously unreliable, prone to breakdowns, expensive to repair, and they rusted out quickly.
Some of us prefer the crisp lines of American cars from that era which began with the revolutionary Cadillac Seville in 1975 with its formal, chiseled lines, and rectangular headlamps.
Plus Lincolns were never intended to handle like sports cars.
@lukeshytalker02
Jaguar in the 70′s?? Please, they were so bad, that not even company directors wanted the XJS. In the early 80′s my dad was fixing late 70′s Jags every week. You can pick them up now £100.
And the late 70′s Cadillacs were nice inside with there big armchair style velour seats. I loved driving my old Caddys.
I think they drove better than the UK cars..Hmm, Vauxhall chevette with no power steering, no power brakes, hard ride, and tank like clutch, or smooth PA everthing Lincoln?
Honda has always had good cars
he should fix his hair
@BombayBerke id have ( and have had ) a camaro and firebird from this era but cant think of anything else ( maybe a ‘vette ) that id like , but i agree with the leyland thing lol, fortunately ford UK had some good stuff at this time, vauxhall were ok too
just face facts, most US cars of this period are aweful ( and i love american cars ive owned 5 ) even the mustang at the time was horrible ( dont even try and defend the Mustang II ) this is supposed to be a luxury car but a ford granada from the uk would walk all over it ( im not even gonna bring jaguar into it ) what mid to late ’70s US cars are desirable ? camaro, firebird, corvette, some caddys looked ok until you looked inside, and none of these cars drive as well as the majority of UK cars
@diggingforgold that design could be a 1980 model, and hes does say “especially late ’70s” so hes only 1 year out , plus are you actually saying that cars got worse in the ’80s ? lol
It’s not even a 1970′s car. This is a 1985 model year at the earliest.
nice car im planning on getting one of thoes in jan i cant wait i have a 1997 now
@fp3shb Yes it is not but an Mercury Grand Marquis is a old person car. LOL and i have that as one of my famly car’s and im 26. But hay i love it.
im getting a 2002 lincoln towncar soon. its gold.. i am getting it from my grandpa ( rest his soul, he passed last sunday ). it wasvery well taken care of alwaysserviced on time. i will post a video on it when i get it. also i have a question do all the signature models of towncar have heated seats and a cd changer i know the car i am getiing has a cassette player but i do not know if it has a cd changer.
Nice car! I rented a 2007 Lincoln Town Car in 2007 and fell in love with these big land yachts. I’ve definitely been wanting to add a used 2003 or later TC to my fleet since then.
Love these TC’s in this light ice blue and the light french silk (gold) colors especially.
Can i have it bogar??? Please!!!
@spiderc00 shares the same engine as the mustang
love that ford 4.6 engine
What about fuel economy Im wondering cause Im 19 and would like to buy it as my new car and don’t want to brake the bank filling her up every week know what I mean ?
THATSA NICESA
what’s that above the drivers door, just above the handle
@Busbee100, it does have front and rear parking sensors. And actually i prefer it did not. -BOGAR!
to make it more safe…..they should ad a rear view camera..and if not that both front and rear parking sensors.
Hi again Bogar. Inside & Out absolutely beautiful. Especially the AFTER photo of the engine & compartment. How did you do THAT? Man you are a miracle worker. I bet you could even raise a dead car FROM the dead. No, seriously, I am really impressed. I had to sell my crown vic hi way partol car. The next one I get will not be a fleet vehicle but one the owner kept up. I think you cannot buy new crowns but the Mercury Grand Marquis is still around. I’d appreciate your advice grandmaster. JAMES.
Could you give some tips as to how you cleaned the engine bay? My LS is dirty under the hood.
@Dobrinabebe, Well……that all depends on what you look like. LOL. LaTeRz, -BOGAR!
wow!!! we both have the same car the and same computer, i wonder if we look the same???
@spiderc00 aint really made for speed its more of a luxury car, but you can put enhancements to make it faster. but in all honesty it aint made for speed.
@Trevelbond, LOL. Whats so bad about? And pretty cool….you are only about 10 mins. from my house.-BOGAR!
i wonder is it like fast
i got a 03 last fall with 75k on it… mine has the cassette and cd player… those things are so sweet riding… gotta love land yachts…
btw what part of the cali is that? saw the 101 freeway sign…. just curious…
needs more power, a 5 or 6 sp auto and more chrome
Hi my father own one of these cars a 2006 same year. But his is a Designer Series. I got two question my father is wondering do you leave the engine running when you clean it or leave it turned off. And what is the diffrence of the singnature series and designer series.
This car is good in some aspects but it really needs to be updated.
yeah that 2003 freshening up is a lot better than the prior model…..i hate the headlights of a 2002.
I love Town Cars especially the 2003 and newer models. can you do a 0-60 video in this car?
