  1. We've been talking about it over in our neck of the woods. If Central closed, there would be no more Monroe County Library System. We would be individual libraries all on our own. We wouldn't have the website, the online catalog or databases. We wouldn't have a way to transport books back and forth. Plus there would be a lot of the little things that people take for granted that we would no longer have.
I know this is easy for me to say since I don't work in the city, but close Central for a week! Then people will realize how much they take for granted can quickly disappear.

  3. Yes, White Oleander was good. I actually can't seem to get into Dave Eggers.

Oh, and I have to add: The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen of COURSE is great. I think I've read it three or four times.

I wish the library had a list of everything I've taken out. I should try that online catalog.

Oh yeah, Chaim Potok! Anita Diamant! Richard Dawkins for non-fiction.

  4. Joe,

Agreed. Interesting about FRAM. I did a little research and it looks like FRAM has made filters in Israel and might still be doing so. People should check before they buy. But it's not just FRAM. I ran a search on “Auto parts made in Israel” and found some interesting things.

  5. Compare on two laptops
    On both laptops:
Open command line: Start >> Run >> cmd.
    Enter: ipconfig /release
    Enter: ipconfig /renew
The IP Addresses should not match.
The Subnet Mask & Default Gateway should match.

    Hope this helps.
