Looking for the Cool

Buying a swell car online has never been easier. You just navigate your browser to a spiffy site, type in the make and model and away you go. Will it run? Will it hold together? Well, when you’re buying a car online that’s the chance you take — but man alive, ain’t it cool? That is, after all, the point, right?

Nothing bends the willful ways of other hipsters to your antique prowess like making a significant financial investment based on a whim. This means opting for a really obscure make and model and putting down a substantial down payment. Fancy that circa 1991? You know a Camry will make you a living legend in your hip circle of friends.

Is this all about posturing? Is this just the realm of the poseur? While this may not be the most sensible way of getting a point across, you have to realize this isn’t about just making a point. This about integrity, fetishism, and a knack for choosing something that someone in a hundred mile radius would never dream of buying. This will ensure your position as the preeminent cool kid.

It can be a bit bewildering. In fact, you may be wondering what is all this nonsense about having such a rare item is all about. It stems from a very primal hipster drive to be special. The hipster, whose demise has been greatly exaggerated, covets the song, album, article of clothing, or the rare car that few other have. It’s wacky, but there is an entire subculture thriving on these white elephants.

The buying and selling of these rarefied goods is done online, in large part thanks to online classified sites. They bring the antique mall experience directly to your laptop or PC. While this informs and fuels this subculture of hipster seekers, it also gives dealers and collectors alike a tremendous platform for getting their goods sold. It’s a kind of hipster win-win situation.

Ok, you rare-loving hipsters, come get your antiqued goodies, used Toyotas and other goodies online.

  1. Just so you know every sport have sponsors. Look at any game of any sport and you'll see banners, signs, everything with logos and other ads. Same thing as sponsors on the cars. It takes so much money to run a NASCAR team you need sponsorship backing, even the major teams need it. Even for a 1 car team. Plus NASCAR went from strictly stock cars to strictly custom built from scratch race cars, not cheap. The you have the haulers, the tires, fuel, misc. stuff like that and don't forget to pay everybody.

    If you don't want to watch then don't, nobody is making you. Just stop watching it and stop b*tching about it. Most people that stop watching it are closed minded and don't realize that things change because nothing in any sports is the exact same as it was 10, 20, 30 or more years ago. Times change, that simple.

    The reason the economy is screwed has nothing to do with NASCAR or any sport. I highly doubt NASCAR was the reason the economy went to sh*t, think about things before you type, you'll sound smarter. NASCAR and other sports are entertainment. If you tell people to stop supporting NASCAR then they have to stop supporting football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, drag racing, F1, IndyCar and so on, get my drift?

    I still don't know how you went from looking for Toyota engine specs to a rant about how NASCAR has changed. By the way if you want to be technical, those racers on smaller tracks like dirt tracks also ina way get sponsored by big corps without getting the names on the cars. Want to know how? If they pay out of their own pocket then that means they get the money from wherever they work since they do get paid for work right? Of course not all of their payroll but some of it but the money still goes from the company to the team.

  2. I'm sorry. I did not read all of it, because I don't have the patience to read long stuff! But, I did read you details(XD). I think that's awesome that you're a cop!! My uncle is one in FL too. I was thinking about joining the Police force if my military career doesn't happen. Thank you! :) and God Bless!

  4. CarDescription should have some instance variables to store the values you are trying to set. For example,

    class CarDescription {
    private:
    int year;
    public:
    void setYear(int year) {
    this->year = year;
    }

    };

    To print the CarDescription using the stream insertion operator, you have to overload it. To do this, you will have to add

    friend ostream &operator<<(ostream &, const CarDescription &);

    to your class declaration, and define it similar to

    ostream &operator<<(ostream &stream, const CarDescription &value) {
    stream << year; // obviously you print it however you want
    return stream;
    }

    I can't give you anything more because you can't learn anything if somebody else is doing your homework.

  5. my fiance and i have been trying for a while. every time we see a baby or a toddler at the mall he always always goes "give me one of those, please?" (like it's something you can get off a supermarket shelf! LOL). anyway, he knew before i did, i guess. we were trying and about 10 days before my period was supposed to start i pick on him for every little thing (afterwards, i'd be all sweet and asking for hugs… yeah, psycho, i know!) he was quiet about it, then when i told him i cried while watching tv (i'm not much of a crier), he started suspecting. he wasn't surprised when my period didn't show up, and when i went to my OB (cause i was spotting, but she said it wasn't a period, so i still could be pregnant) he came along and wanted to be in the room when my doctor examined me. when i came out of the doctor's office (my doc and i kicked him out of the office so he had to stay in the waiting area), he goes, "well? are we pregnant?" and when i told him the doc said to get an ultrasound, he goes, "so are we pregnant?" i had to tell him what the doc said (she said "most likely you are since your uterus seems to be on the large side of normal (5 weeks AOG), but i want you to have an ultrasound for confirmation"), he looked so disappointed that my pregnancy still wasn't confirmed. my doc said that it looked like he was going to be the more devastated one (between the two of us) if i wasn't pregnant yet!

    he's almost sure now that i am pregnant since my period hasn't arrived yet. i've been craving for stuff and averse to other food. also i've been having morning sickness and my boobs are getting bigger. (i've only noticed recently since my bras are getting uncomfortable) he would sometimes sit beside me and rub my tummy (which he says is getting bigger LOL). he also talks to my belly. i feel like a lucky buddha statue (the one where you rub buddha's tummy for good luck?)

    i told him i wanted to paint my old room at my mom's house for the baby, and he said yeah we could do that. when i asked him what color, he said to wait until we knew whether the baby was a boy or a girl… i could see that he was already renovating the room in his head!
