Look For The Better Options For A Youth Dirt Bike And At What Price

Buying a youth is a big decision and one you will want to take your time making. I am currently looking for one for my teenager and I was surprised at all of the options available. I have been doing research for weeks now and I put together some of what I found to help you if you are considering making this type of purchase. These are a few of the big things you should look at.

Safety should always be your number one priority. Keeping you child safe is the most important thing to consider and there are several factors to help with this. You should also tech you child to operate their bike safely and read all safety instructions that come with it including manufacturers dirt bike warnings.

Helmets play a big role in safety. You should always insist that your child wear these when they are on any type of bike or motorized that they are in charge of. These help to prevent head injuries in case of an accident and most are not very expensive but you will want to get a good one. You want one that is sturdy and durable and wont break on impact.

Breaks are one of the best ways to prevent accidents. You will always want to make sure the bike you choose has a good break system and that they stay in proper working order. A kill switch is also a good idea. These help prevent further injury in the event of an accident such as your child being drug behind the bike if they fall off or motor burns from the bike landing on them.

The top speed of the bike could be a major issue. While I know my son would love to have the fastest dirt bikes available, as a parent I know I want something a bit slower. Slower speeds can help prevent accidents and lessen the severity of injuries in the event of an accident. This is an area where mom and dad know best and should stick to their guns.

The size of the bike plays an important role as well. You want a bike that is light enough for your child to handle, tall enough to ride properly, and capable of supporting your child’s weight. This can be tricky if you are like me and have a child that is big for their age.

Of course you will want to look at prices. It will probably be best to get a new bike so that you know for sure everything is in good working condition and maybe an extended warranty as well. This is an expensive toy and hard to fix if it gets broken on the first outing. These are called dirt bikes for a reason: they are not street legal. You will also want to take into consideration weather or not your child will have a place to ride them.

A youth dirtbike might be wonderful for some children but you should also consider if your child is mature enough to follow rules and ride safely. Check out all of your options carefully and read all owners manuals. Remember safety should always be your first priority.

  1. I propose they put in an off road bike trail along river road that goes up and connects to the Monkey trail, since that trail already allows bikes, no work to do in the park. Then on Parkway, stripe bike lanes and/or at least add “Bikes Share the Road” signs, so bike commuters can use the Parkway with a little more awareness of the right for bikes to share the road. Oh yeah and for sure add the bike poles Bobby suggested. Let me know how I can help!!!

  2. RT Taking the Mrs on her 1st proper off road bike session tomorrow < How’d it go?
