Driving instructor has packed it in and my test is very soon, this is not good
My driving experience comes mostly from abroad and NY state; but here in TX, while I was involved with organizing a street light petition for Lake Austin Blvd, which we were able to obtain back in 2004 (a quasi-light), I learnt from a police officer that motorists do not have to stop when a pedestrian is crossing the street in a pedestrian crossing! but only gauge if they can make it and decide to stop or keep driving.
I was appalled to hear that since, from my driving education, I knew a driver has to stop if a pedestrian sets a foot on the pavement. Period.

I don't think that your comparison is entirely relevant. If you want to stick to the issues at hand, perhaps try to think of a more ludicrous extortion of statistics that uses less hot buttons such as race and education. For example, "saying all teenagers will get in a car accident it is similar to claiming all M&Ms are red."
