Volvo Is Ready For Detroit Auto Show With C30 Electric Car
Volvo seems to be following Toyota in its efforts to come up with a successful electric car. With an expected increase in demand of electric cars and also a stress on adopting greener vehicles by the European Union and Governments across the world, the research seems to be in the right direction. And nothing could have been better for Volvo at this time.
The C30 model of electric car will look identical to the C30 car, and the latest testing has led to the development of a prototype that will be a subject of demonstration in the Detroit Auto Show in 2010. This development comes after intense testing and research by the product development team of Volvo.
It must be noted that the electric car variant of C30 was displayed in September 2009. Infact, that was the first ever prototype that was displayed. Since that time, Volvo has made progress and come to an improved version with a complete set of interiors to go with the car. All indicators suggest that this could be a one-step short of a truly commercially marketable product from the Volvo stable.
If the Detroit Motor Show gives a thumbs-up to the C30 then we may expect the Volvo team to roll out C30 in 2011. And we must understand that this is a clear proof of Volvo’s preparedness and confidence in the level of its development of electric C30.
On a parting note, one must understand that electric car market is a subject of intense research and activity amongst all the big players in automotive industry. And Volvo seems to have made appreciable progress with the C30 electric car. Following the success of Toyota in their electric car research, Volvo’s success is sure to fuel more research. However, what we are waiting for is the availability of a commercially feasible electric car that is green. Or to put in other words, we are looking for green cars that do not end up being a disaster on the road.
