How To Deal With A Car Accident

It’s a warm sunny day and you are enjoying a drive in your car. Suddenly, a car appears from the adjacent bend. You are late to react and you end up hitting the car on it’s rear. What do you do next? You would obviously be anxious about the damage your car has caused to the other person, his car and the legal and financial implications of the .

After realizing that the accident didn’t cause any serious injury, you walk up to the driver of the other car to make sure he is alright. You express regret and extend your help to him. As you are convinced that the accident didn’t result in any grave injury to him, you will need to find out his name, phone number, address, his insurance company and insurance policy number. If he doesn’t have a policy, then get the make, model and color of his vehicle.

If there was anyone in the vicinity who, you think, might have seen the accident as it happened, then take down their name and contact information. This can be very helpful in case of claims to find out who was responsible for the accident. But if the police visits the scene, then you might have difficulty getting the necessary contact information. If that happens, then get the police report number from the officer so that you can obtain the information from the police report.

Next, you need to contact your insurance company and let them know about the car accident. You should also give them the report number so that they can find out the accident information and the relevant information about the other party from the police report.

However, if you choose not to report the accident to your insurance provider, you may face problems in future during applying for a new insurance policy. So, if you are not the guilty party in the accident, you may still get into an unenviable situation if you choose to hide the accident information from your insurer. Hence, it’s in your interest to report the incident to your insurance company.

  3. Dear Billy Joel,

since 1993 that River of Dreams was released, I am a big fan of you. I have heard in a magazine about this car accident. I know what it means to be in such a situation. 1999 a was close to death as I had a car accident in the east of Turkey. My chew was broken twice, my legs were paralized for one week. So far, get well soon. Do not forget your German fans. Yours Daniela Nitz from Duisburg.

  4. Andy, the other night on the five o'clock radio newscast the woman anchor – I can't remember her name – did the Tiger Woods story as the second story. It was the day the police dropped their investigation into this non-incident. She read, and I quote, “Police have dropped their investigation into Tiger Woods….(long pause)…car accident.” It was the verbal quotes around “car accident” that was so galling. What has happened to editorial oversight? Unbelievable.

  5. Hello Katherine, and YES any person of any age can have arthritis.

It may or may not be the cause of your pain, though it sounds like it to me.

For over 2 decades I have suffered arthritis pain, but it did not show up as arthritis in tests until now.

The problem with suffering pain, is that no one else can feel what you are going through and that includes the doctor.

A lot of the time, people who go to the doctors suffering pain – and are tested for known causes of such pain – and nothing shows up in the test – are treated as if they are pain killer addicts.

Most of the tests that are available are not very sensitive.

Also the doctors tend to take the lesser of the extremes when it comes to test results.

For example – I had a test result come back positive and the explanations ranged from – you have just finished your periods or you have Endometriosis.
A huge difference in possible diagnosis and consequences and these types of tests are still used today and are really useless unless you are quite severe with illness and close to serious consequences. Not good, but it is the way it is.

Now about your pain – regardless of what is causing it – have you considered trying natural medicines. I ask this because Medicinal Herbs have pain killing properties as well. I found this out when I started taking some for another health issue and found that they also addressed the pain.

I sourced my information from a website called herbsarespecial.com.au and I explained in an email to them – my issues and pain was amongst them.

They shared with me there understanding of 3 dried herbs called "King of Bitters". "Gotu Kola"' and "Herb Robert". These herbs have been really great.

They also shared the value of taking fresh herbs such as Comfrey and Plantain.
I personally take all of these as a tea and it really makes a difference to the pain.

Please be aware that these herbs have drug properties, so if you are taking any medications, you should check to see if there are any contraindications.

Because you have indicated that your mum is not as supportive as you would like at this time.

Please be sure to explain your situation to the people at the Herb site I have mentioned.
They are extremely helpful people and can email you information about the herbs in detail – much more detail than is available on the site.

Just let them know that you are researching as a young person without adult assistance and you would like to know if any of the above mentioned herbs cause problems with mainstream medications.

If you feel comfortable – tell them the names of your medications and also any diagnosed illness that you have. They were wonderfully helpful to me and I am sure that they will help you too.

There are so many things that can cause the terrible pain that you described and that is why the above herbs are wonderful and the Gotu Kola is given a huge write up -on its help with arthritis pain.

It took me about 2 weeks before I felt the benefits of the tea and I haven't looked back since.

I hope this helps in some small way.

Sending warm wishes your way. SS

  8. You probably should have just fixed the window out of pocket, but I've known people who have bought their totaled cars back from the insurance company for a fraction of the payoff. The insurance company just issued a check with a certain amount deducted for the car price. The only downside would be that the car would most likely have a salvage title, but if you just want to drive it til the wheels fall off, that really doesn't matter.
