Vintage Car Insurance – How to Find Great Deals
It’s probably safe to say that the vintage car you have at home cost a lot of money. Whether you purchased it for the investment or just liked the appeal, thousands upon thousands of dollars were spent. This is why it’s going to be crucial to get the right vintage car insurance policy.
When you are shopping for car insurance you’ll find that the type of insurance you need will be different to that for ordinary cars. Once you start looking you should try and find an insurance company that specializes in insuring vintage cars. Vintage cars require specialist coverage. The type of coverage you will need will depend very much on how your car is used. You will need a different kind of premium if the car is only driven to specialist shows and exhibitions, than you would if you drove your vintage car like a regular vehicle.
If you take the time to find the right policy for your car, it’s extremely possible to save money on auto insurance for your vintage car. Just remember you shouldn’t insure your classic under a standard insurance policy. Plus, you don’t want to be driving it around like an ordinary vehicle if you purchased it as an investment.
There are guidelines for insuring different types of vehicles and you should be familiar with these before you insure your car. If you want an insurer to give you a good quote for your vintage car then you need to have been driving for at least five years as insurance companies want to protect your asset as much as you do. Providing you are twenty five or older it should be easy to find insurance for your vintage car as insurance companies will look on you as less of an insurance risk than a younger driver.
When you insure a car, insurers will want to assess both your security and your driving skills before they will allow you to take out a speciality premium. You should have a car that is old enough to be considered a vintage vehicle and this standard will depend on the company that you buy your insurance from.
Some insurance companies will only give vintage status to cars that are nineteen seventies vintage or older. You should know that policies will differ depending on the age of your car. Another thing that insurers will take into consideration is whether you have an insurance policy of an ordinary car before they grant you a special policy.
Another thing they will look for is whether or not you are driving your vintage vehicle on a daily basis. This would be considered a huge risk, and you may be turned down. If this decreases in value due to the extensive driving, insurance companies will offer special premiums based on the actual cash value (ACV) of your car. However, it will also include the stated value (SV), and agreed value (AV) as well.
Let’s say they do give you the auto insurance for your vintage car. If something occurs they will pay it, but it will most likely be based on an agreed value of the car. This means you both agree on the value, and still take into consideration the investment and maintenance. If they are happy after this is agreed upon, you will end up getting your vintage car insurance for that value.

“Why is it unconstitutional to require we buy health insurance if we are required to buy auto insurance?”
As much as I am in favor of socializing health care, I have trouble with this question. First, we are only required to buy auto insurance on a state level, not a federal one (no auto insurance required in New Hampshire for instance). Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, one are only required to have auto insurance in order to have the privilege of driving, which is different than having to buy health insurance for being alive.
