Teenager Car Insurance – Finding an Inexpensive Policy
There is no getting away from the fact that car insurance can be expensive and when it comes to teenager car insurance the cost can be exorbitant. The main reason that teenagers pay much higher insurance premiums than adults is because statistically, they have more accidents than drivers over the age of twenty five. Insurance companies regard teenagers as an insurance risk because of the high incidence of accidents among younger drivers.
While it is generally the case that if you are trying to insure a vehicle for a teenager you could pay through the nose, it is possible to get cheaper teenager car insurance if you know what to do. One of the things that insurers take into consideration when quoting to a customer, is the type of vehicle that they drive.
Some cars are more likely to be involved in an accident than others and very often these are the kind of vehicles that teenagers like to drive. Most teens may love the idea of driving around in a red corvette, but that is the type of car on which insurers will raise their premiums. Anybody, even a teenager who drives an ordinary, light colored four cylinder engine car, will get Brownie points from the insurance company in the shape of lower premiums.
Insurers will also be looking at the personality aspect that revolves around the car. The type of car that is purchased is an easy indication of how the driver behaves. So if you one car looks like something that could be reckless, then the driver is portrayed the same way. In this case the premium would shoot through the roof and the insurance for your child would bring about a huge obligation. If you take the other route then you will enjoy lower rates.
It is not only the type of vehicle they drive that affects teenager insurance premiums. Just as you can get a cheaper quote by driving an unremarkable vehicle, so you can also save money if you commit to only driving a certain number of miles a year. The less annual mileage a teenager clocks up, the more likely they are to get a cheaper car insurance quote. Insurers are more likely to charge higher premiums to teenagers who drive great looking cars, the fact is that a teen is likely to drive a certain type of car more often and this makes them a higher insurance risk.
It’s going to be up to you to make this happen. The insurers aren’t going to do it for you, so make sure you take the precautions upfront and do as much research to help you get the best deal possible. No matter who pays for the teenager car insurance, if you are using an unremarkable car for the first 10 years of their driving experiences, the premiums will be much lower.
Making sure that your teenager is not driving around town every day showing off their car to their peers will save you a lot of money when it comes to insuring that vehicle. If you can assure the company that your teen will not be driving more than a certain number of miles each year, then you will get a lower insurance quote.

Finding Cheap Auto Insurance Takes Time And Effort: Car insurance can take a big bite out of a household budget….
Ignore Kinley, he's the resident spammer. Automobile insurance in Canada is a provincial jurisdiction, therefore the rules in Quebec do not apply in Ontario which do not apply in British Columbia, etc. The rules in Quebec are pretty cut and dry when it comes to needing a Quebec licence, and it appears that everyone is applying the same rule uniformly. I know in British Columbia you can register a vehicle with a foreign licence (you would need to obtain a B.C. licence within 90 days of taking residency in the province), however the cost to transport a vehicle to British Columbia, have it inspected and registered and insured and then transport it to Quebec would be prohibitive to say the least. Plus once the vehicle has been in Quebec for more than 30 days it must be registered and insured in Quebec, so it would ultimately be a lesson in futility. The Quebec version of the Canadian Automobile Association is used to dealing with International Driver's Lincences, so they may be your best (and probably last) hope. Try them at:
