New car smell is comprised of curing paints, glue, plastics, and dyes, among other things, so if you could recreate the smell it would probably be pretty bad for you. I have smelled a number of "new car " scents or air fresheners, but none have smelled very close to me. the more likely answer to your question is that some sort of repair was performed on the interior of the car. I had a "new car" smell the last time i got a new windshield because of the sealant/adhesive applied to keep the new one in place. I could be wrong though, there are new products out there daily.
