No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service – Motorcycle Safety That May Save Your Life

We have all experienced a time when a motorcyclist driving on the road has done some pretty dangerous and heart stopping antics. There are motorcyclists that weave in and out of traffic as if there were no lanes on the freeways at all. Some cyclists don’t even wear protective gear such as helmets to protect them from harm. Others just drive too fast. Nevertheless, motorcycling can be extremely dangerous.

If you have your heart set on riding a motorcycle, you must wear the right safety gear. Safety gear, may not look as cool as riding free, but it also doesn’t look to cool when you’ve been in a serious accident and have body parts that are literally hanging off of you either. Safety should be your first priority. Helmets, thick pants, boots and gloves will help keep a bad accident from becoming a horrific accident and can also keep any accident from becoming fatal.

There is no reason not to protect yourself if you’re on a motorcycle. However, there are many reasons why people on a motorcycle should protect themselves when thinking about the other people they share the road with. By not wearing the right kind of equipment, motorcyclists actually end up making the road more dangerous for everybody. Drivers in cars have to change the way they are driving so as to try to avoid these reckless people, and it can lead to other accidents, more traffic, collisions and all kinds of problems.

Accidents are not just bad news for those who are involved in them. Accidents affect everyone else too. They waste other people’s time when traffic jams occur, the raise car insurance premiums that everyone has to pay, they raise medical insurance costs for everyone, and not to mention they causes messes that must be cleaned up by tax payers. So when safety isn’t first, everyone is affected.

The truth is that you can’t entirely control your own safety when you ride a motorcycle. You can be the best, most experienced cyclist and can still run into a scenario where you crash. Whether it’s the weather, another driver, the condition of the road or anything else, it’s bound to happen at some point.

However, considering all of that, you should still take the necessary precautions to protect yourself in every way. You can’t control other people or nature, but you can control yourself and thereby put yourself into the best position possible to not only ensure your life, but the lives of other drivers on the roads.
